Regret is one of the primary results of wrong choices ~ it means “to feel sorry, disappointed or distressed about something.” The world is full of people who live with regret ~ I being one of them ~ and it’s a terrible thing for us to do to ourselves!
Living in an attitude of sorrow and regret simply robs us of the joy we could experience every day and of our hope for a better tomorrow. When wrong choices cause regret, we need to deal with it and let it teach us how to make better choices in the future.
I understand firsthand that wrong choices lead to regret. One area where I made a bad choice was in choosing to become a smoker at the age of 18. If I hadn’t made this choice some 20 years ago I would be in a much healthier, stronger and good physical shape. When I reached the point where I needed to reap the benefits of being an Ex-Non-Smoker, I regretted that I ever started this NASTY, much addictive habit! I finally realized that it is never too late to do the right thing, so I started a non-smoking program and have continued to this day.
If there is anything you regret, ask God to forgive you for making wrong choices and do what you can to correct it. If there is nothing you can do, then learn from it and make better choices in the future. Don’t let your thoughts of the past haunt for future!
Love yourself today and don’t let the regrets of the past ruin your future ~ we were made for so much more than that!
