Popsicles with Immune-Boosting Properties to Get You Through the Cold And Flu Season

It’s that time of year when cold and flu viruses have officially come a-knockin’ (I am not even gonna say COVID because we’ve heard it enough but see I did say it🤪). When over-the-counter remedies don’t alleviate symptoms, popsicles are a great alternative for soothing sore throats, boosting your immunity as well as hydrating our body.  These popsicles can be made from classic cold-battling ingredients and they can be made using any classic mold or ice trays.

My favorite sicle is made with elderberry. I swear by elderberry and my family eats the Zarbees fruit chews all the time, all year long. Elderberries are a popular remedy for fighting off the cold and flu because the antiviral properties that they have offer great support for the immune system. When you combine elderberry with the antibacterial properties of honey, you have the perfect immunity booster. For a quick elderberry ice pop, simply mix a tablespoon of pre-made elderberry syrup (you can find it at most health food stores or online) with a cup of lemonade. Freeze and enjoy!

You can also try this yummy yet healthy sicle using:

10 oz. coconut water
2 large oranges, juiced (should make about 5 oz.)
1 ½ cups tart cherries (frozen work well)
¼ cup raw cranberries
1 teaspoon raw ginger, minced
1 tablespoon Elderberry syrup
1 ½ tablespoons of raw honey
Mix the orange juice with coconut water. Blend the rest of the ingredients in a blender or food processor, adding enough of the liquid to blend well. Once everything is fully blended, add everything together. Pour into ice pop molds, freeze, and enjoy.
